"Apocalyptic Rendering of Verse"

The inevitable apocalypse is the pink elephant following me from room to room. I want to scream reality, but I bite my tongue because chaos is destruction and reality is chaos. If we are quiet we can conceal the truths of death. We must maintain composure.

"History which was supposed to provide some sort of training for life [...] had done little to prepare men for the coming of the" (108) apocalypse. If anything, history blinded man from the harsh reality that exceeds this artificially created meaning and existence. By utilizing our narrative capabilities, man links together events, and such, which are related temporarily, but that simultaneously condition reality while negating the pre-determined global truth. Society increasingly mocks nature, and a subtle obsession with history limits the universality of reason by assessing the past in linear and relative connotations. "Perspective vision and prospecitive vision constitute the twofold projection of an opaque past and an uncertain future onto a surface that can be dealt with" (151). Nature exists regardless of history, and our ignorance has developed a culture that disregards the natural course. The future becomes disturbingly certain then, as man procreates ceaselessly like a parasitic hybrid.
