on Agamben

Agamben’s short essay on the politics, words, and ideas of Aristotle, Plato Foccault, is a very necessary tool in today’s society for relating the policies of ancient times to today.  It is because of the brilliance of the theories of Aristotle and Plato that politics are what they are today, yet it is always good to take a step back and see what their thoughts were and comparing these thoughts with the politics of modern society.  It was so interesting to see the ancient Greeks’ etymology and word choice.  The Zoë, bios politkon, zoon, and many others represent a wide variety of words that we still use today.  Not only are the words a point of interest but also are the quotes which come from Aristotle.  These points really make one think about the common good and what politics really are.
